Mark Bilyeu and composer Libby Larsen discuss Laresn’s new set of songs, commissioned by Schubert Club. “MOBILE/NOT MOBILE/… 8 Haiku from World War II Internment Camps for Japanese-American Citizens” is an original and imaginative work by Larsen featuring eight haiku settings.

The award-winning French pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet makes his Schubert Club debut in two programs that will offer the rare chance to hear the complete piano works of Maurice Ravel.

Pianist Jeremy Denk is one of the foremost musicians of our age – “a pianist you want to hear no matter what he performs,” proclaimed the New York Times. To open the 2024-2025 International Artist Series, Denk will present a program of both old and new, featuring music by notable female composers along with music by Schumann and Brahms.

The brilliant English saxophonist Jess Gillam makes her International Artist Series debut. At just 25 years old, Gillam is already animating the music world with her exceptional talent and infectious personality.

The revered flutist Emmanual Pahud makes a rare Twin Cities appearance in this recital. The Swiss-born Pahud is one of today’s most exciting and adventurous musicians, known for his wide repertoire, which includes an interest in jazz. The Guardian newspaper raved that Pahud’s emergence “signaled the arrival of a new master flutist!”

Leonidas Kavakos will presents J.S. Bach’s Six Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin on two successive evenings.

British violinist Daniel Hope joins his frequent collaborator Simon Crawford-Phillips in this recital entitled La Belle Époque, which blends charming salon works and two considerable sonatas, both by French composers, including César Franck’s Violin Sonata.

For her International Artist Series debut, Schultz explores several overlooked worlds of women composers, in songs by Nadia Boulanger, Emilie Mayer, Rebecca Clarke and Clara Schumann, and a new three-song cycle called “This Be Her Verse” by Kathleen Tagg and Lila Palmer.
